does anyone know what size is the nut so i can take off my old steering wheel ? its a 68 if theres any differences.

1-1/16" or 27mm

thanks alot, hopefully i'll have my new steering wheel on tomarrow after i go to orange county and buy parts

As Keifernet says, it's 27mm.

You need a socket - a box wrench (ring spanner) won't get deep enough.

And when you are pulling the steering wheel... it's a tightish fit on the splined shaft - you often have to thump on it from behind using the balls of your hands - both sides at the same time, and eventually it will pop free.

About the only other place on a bug you use a 27mm socket is the two bolts which hold the yoke cradle in place under the gearbox.
