| Does anyone have any experience with or info on the aftermarket in-line heater blower units? Are they any good (worth the money)? How much Hp do they pull off the engine? Does it significantly affect the performance? Thanks. |

If you are meaning the so-called booster kit advertised in the mags, no, it ain't worth the money. I bought the kit and it does help the heat/defrost IF the rest of your heating system is intact, ESPECIALLY the heater channels.
However, I've heard that you can accomplish the same thing for much less $$$ by getting bilge fans @ a marine (boating) supply, and the electrical switch @ Radio Shack. |

I beleive ACH is referring to "bilge blower" fans, common to all boats with inboard engines. They are virtually the same as used in the Barney's Import parts kit. They are used in marine appilcations to vent the "bilge" or the underdeck /engine compartment area of fumes(particulary on a gasoline powered inboard craft) they come in many different sizes and CFM's (cubic foot per minute) rating as well as amperage pull according to the size of the fan.
In reality the Barney's kit is not a bad deal as the wiring and all is included and set up right making it easy for those less mechanically and electrically minded to install themselves.... |
