I am assembling an engine for a friend which was originally configured as a manual transmission engine. Beyond reversing the cam plug, are there any other "surprises" anyone has encountered during this procedure? I noticed in one book where they make a stong point about putting the flex plate back on as it came off, on an auto-stick. But what about one that never had one? Also, at which point on the flex plate should I hang the dial indicator for setting end play? Any insight would be helpful.

This sucks, I am trying to remmy how I did it, that was...4 years ago? I had a semi-auto and took a manual made engine and swapped em, blew the auto engine. Flex plate, put it back on. Other surprises...hmmm, no, everything else went back on after I put that fun tranny stuff back on and in. Only problem I had was adjusting that plate to make it go into gears and not pop out.

I did the autostick to manual conversion. I remember the gland nut being different. Also the intake manifold (it was an SP).
