I am not an owner of a Volkwagen, though I once owned an orange 1976 Volkwagen Polo that was imported by a German research fellow in the Bronx. My connection to Volkswagen is that one of my cars, a 1960 Thunderbird, has the rare Golde Top steel sunroof option. As you know this German company made the sunroofs on many early Volkswagens. I have been trying to find out what happened to company. The last reference to a Golde sunroof I found on the Internet is one was dealer installed on a 1984 Fiat Uno http://www.dberridge.dial.pipex.com/unoinfo .htm. It seems that Golde was the leading manufacturer of sunroofs after World War II. On my site I have an original brochure from the early sixties showing the selection of Golde Top offerings http://www.squarebirds.org/1958_golde_top.htm .
Did the Golde Top company merge or go under?
