Well guy's I need help again! I could not get my 1600 DP to run well with a 34PIC-3 carb, I went through everything, rejetting, timing and so on. In any case I purchased a push pull distributor 113-905-205AN. I disassembled the entire thing and cleaned it completly. My questions are, Im not sure that the vacuum thing works, If I aply vacuum to one of the tubes the lever will depress however, I read that if I put my finger on the the tube and depress it by pushing the lever in it should stay there, it does not. But with a strong vacuum it will stay depressed. is that the way it works or is it bad? Also do both of the vacuum lines go to the carb?
Any help would be great! Thanks Rich

I forgot to ask, can I buy a new vacuum piece or do I need to search junk yards?

Thanks again Rich

Rich, The hose connections are as follows: The green (retard) hose connects to the front of the 34PICT-3, on the left side (there are two pipes sticking out the front) The black (advance) hose connects to the left side of the carb. Both references are from looking at the carb from the rear of the car. Replacement canisters are available from most VW supply houses should you need one.

Thanks Tom,

However I don't understand; maybe because I don't have the hoses? Do you mean that the connection on the canister closest to the distributor goes to the left side of the carb and the hose connection furthest from the distributor or at the top of the canister goes to the back of the carb?

Thanks for your help!

Rich
