I have a 65 bug that I am restoring and it needs all new fenders. I dont know what to go with. I have heard some bad stuff about the aftermarket ones rusting really easily and and being made like crap... stuff like that but i didnt know if if it is true. I can get originals but it is going to cost a lot more and it will be harder to get them. If someone could just tell me how the aftermarket ones are as far as quality that would help me a ton (also, I am not trying to make it a show car. I know that the new ones dont line up perfectly and little stuff like that)

I know that California Import Parts (www.cip1.com) offers two types of bumpers: economy (not so good for rainy or salty area) and triple chrome plated. Hope it helps.

Matthew, I installed all four Brazilian fenders on my '68 restoration recently and they all fit fine, with the exception that the bottom bolt hole was missing on the rear fenders (apparently Brazilian Beetles still use older pressing machines). Good used German fenders would be your first choice, of course, but are sometimes difficult to find. Neil.

Well Matt, I believe you could spend the extra time looking for solid original fenders, but with all the VW products out there, I'm sure you can find some that'll suite your needs, Shipping is killer though, I warn you of this now!
The main thing you need to worry about is Getting them in pairs. If you have an original, and an afermarket front fender, they will look different. But if you have the same, aftermarket, it'll be hard to tell. Just make sure you get the same brand for the front pair...and the same company for the rear...Just look around, and keep talking to people, you'll find what you like, don't worry to much about it.
