I was driving today to school and all the sudden when I came to a complete stop my engine made this really loud squeeling noise, I looked a the belt and nothing was touching it, I tought it came from around the generator area. and it was really cold out this morning too. I don't know if that has to do with anything? But then it went away after I started driving again. Does anyone know what happened?

After I installed my alternator the belt was too tight and would squeal when I would stop. I adjusted it with the shims and the squealling noise went away.

You probably ran over a crossing guard. I'd check my belt too.
