| Hello: Note a 1967 only question. How do you separate the mirror (plastic back) from the mirrormount to be re-chromed? I can not seem to separate them without doing damage to the platic housing. I am thinking of slicing the plastic to gradually pull the black knob out and then replacing the knob and then securing the plastic mirror housing with some superglue and some kind of metal clasp. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks Rick |

Mine is the newer style which just snaps into the cast aluminum or pot metal base. Others with more experience with your mirror style will have to give you more specific help.
I would be real careful with that plasic, as repros for my style mirror have really cheap plastic nowhere near as nice as the original. |
