I have a 74 superbeetle. 1600 cc w/ dual 40mm empi carbs. on my oil filter i have the hose that connects to two other others which go to my air cleaners. I was wondering what the function of this hose really does and if it is necessary. thanks

| im aussuming that you meant the oil filler? well that is the crankcase vent, there is pressure that builds up in the crankcase and if not allowed to release you will have oil leaks all over the place. |

Running it into the intake serves 2 purposes.
1. Creates a slight negative pressure on the crank case to evacuate the gasses.
2. Keeps the nasties out of the atmosphere. (some states, even though you have a smog exempt vehicle, have laws against running the breather to the atmosphere.) |
