Has anyone tried to run front wheel drive 17in aftermarket wheels on there bug. I am thinking about converting my bug to disc brakes and am wondering if I should use a bolt pattern from a honda or toyota and fit front wheel drive wheels on it..Just curious if somebody has already done this or if somebody knows what offset to use with other bolt patterns. Thanks for any information anybody has.

I am going to narrow the front beam 3 inches..I wondering though what stud pattern to do...will I be able to find a wheel with the new 5 on 100 bolt pattern like the new vw's...I am thinking a front wheel drive wheel will fit but wondering if anybody has done it so I know what type of wheel or least what the offset is on there wheels.

thanks again for all help

Find a wheel you like. Get blank disc rotors. Have them drilled for the stud pattern of the wheels you like. Have fun trying to figure out how to make those fat wheels under a stock fender. www.vwinnovations.com has some after market wide fiber fenders. Try your stock ones, and see what happens...

This might be of use to you. Airspeed can help figure this out. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/index.php?photo+200302131022006125

With the airspeed beam you can narrow 3" without body modification. I've heard nothing but great things about them. Alan Uyeno has some pics posted somewhere, might search on cal-look forum see if you can find them. I'll let you know how it fits soon. Also, cb performance has the blank rotors.

oldveedubs has the best idea. Then you have somthing to go with. The new HotVws mag cover car has 17x8inch chevy rims.It said that he had to do alot of custom fabing to the inner fender panel to accomadate for the larger turning radius. In addition to that he also had to reduce the depth of the headlight housing for clearance at full-lock steering. So it can be done, you just need to take everything into account. Good luck. Hope you get some cool rims.If it helps my chevy cavalier's offset is 5x115. Also some wheel manufacture's can make you wheels to fit any offset but they might be kinda expensive.
