| I'm replacing the seat upholstery in my 66 Beetle. I'm having a tough time telling if the original material is "basketweave" or "squareweave". I want to replace it with the original look. Thanks |

| Actually 66-67 came with something in between squareweave and basketweave as the insert. The basketweave insert is usually what is used in replacement seatcovers. I`ve never seen anybody that makes a correct replacement seat cover set for your 66. E-mail me or call and I can help you out. Chris @ 503-316-1971...L5vw@msn.com |

Chris is right,
I've never seen anybody that can make an accurate replica of 1966 interior. The "correct" leatherette interior in a '66 car should have about a 12 inch (or so) basketweave insert in the middle and it should be smooth on either side. The closest I've seen to this interior would be to order the "12 inch insert" upholstery from TMI and have the sides in smooth vinyl and the insert in their basketweave pattern. However, this is only an approximation, because the original '66 insert was a different sort of basketweave than the later material used.
Good luck finding something to work. |
