| rebuilding a '69 bug. Before I took everything apart and pulled the body off, all the electrical seemed to work ok. But now I'm wondering if I should replace the harness before I put the body back on. Its about $200 for the new harness and like I said, everything seemed to be working. I have discovered during this project that new isn't always better, however. are the new manufactured harnesses as good as the old? who makes the best ones? Is there a manufacturer to avoid? Can a harness be replaced just as easily with the body on? any thoughts?? Thanks. Big Al |

| Try Watsons Street Works, they have a custom one. |

u would have to re-wire the hole thing and if there is no sign of wear then I wouldnt do It I did a resto-body off on my bug and I just cleaned up the main fuse box area |

| If it is in good shape I would leave it in,another thing to remember is the replacement harness ends don't look the same as the originals.Good luck. |

my thoughts on this whole rewire deal
if you are building a show car then yes install a new "factory style harness" but if you are just building a nice driver and the wiring is in good shape then leave it alone. |

| i'm rewiring my 65 with a 68+ harness, and making an OG 68 style 12 volt. already has the alternator, and i'm switching to electronic ignition. i would say that since your car came 12 volt, it's your call - if it looks like crap, replace it. dont wait until you have the interior all back in though! |
