I have a 65 sedan with 64 and earlier front seats. I am going to have to completely redo the interior. I want to know what the difference is between a 64 and 65 rear seat, and between 58-64 and 65-67 door panels. I've seen ads that just say 58-67, and others that separate the two, but not for reason of upholstery - I'm going with the OEM classic TMI interior with two tone everything, so is there actually a difference between the earlier and later panels? Also, If I get the seat covers, will 64 and earlier back seat covers work on my 65 seat, or should I request a later model cover? Any insight will prove helpful.

Easiest thing to do would be to pad the tops of the front seats like a 65-67...padding rolls over the top for a rounded top and then you`d be ok with 65 seat covers. otherwise you`ll have to order a 65 and later rear cover and 58-64 front covers making it a little more expensive. 65 and later doorpanels are a differnet size than 64 and earlier...We are a TMI dealer if you need any more help. I figured that would be the answer I'd get, but you gotta ask. :( Any idea how much more expensive it would cost to get the split up set, because I really like the way the earlier front seats look. I also have a question about carpet. I want to get gray carpet, and I want it to be cloth bound. I would prefer a lighter color carpet than charcoal, as the entire rest of my interior is going to be light gray and white. Do you guys offer a lighter than charcoal gray carpet for the 65 sedan with footrest? Also, I'm trying to find a carpet without black grommets, if possible. Do you also offer the smooth white non-perf vinyl headliner? thanks for the added info.

Hey not to steal your post, but can I correctly gather from above that 65-67 seats are basically the same, style-wise? My '67 needs front seats, and I have found a set of '65s. Other than the release knobs on the backrest, should they look about the same?
Thanks, back to your post...

Yes...65-67 take the same pads and covers...

Thanks, that's what I thought.
And now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

hey java, is your 67 java green? (kind of a DUH question, but...) my 65 was originally ruby red but i hate red so i stripped it and painted it java green. just a lil side note, that's the tightest color :)

Yeah Corey, how'd you guess??? Java Green with Gazelle interior (what's left of it, anyhow). Should be a nice combo when its done.
Got any pics of your car painted that color? I just picked mine up, so I am always looking for reference material.

Java,

Your chat name gave it away. What the hell is gazelle interior?! Did you know that in 64 when they came out with that color they put the brown/off white combo in it? It's kinda strange but it looks very unique. I dont have any pics of mine on the pc yet, but it looks great - very unique I think. If you give me your email, I will take a couple of pics with my digicam this week and send em to ya. I'm redoing my interior in the OEM classic style, all gray and white. I'm trying to find a light gray carpet kit for it, I think I finally found one. I wanted it to be really light on the inside, and different from the tan that's so popular (but very good looking). I'm running stock smoothies painted silver, which is ok, but I'm probably gonna get some BRMs to roll with. I also have front seats from a 62 in it, or so it seems. What are you gonna do with your interior and wheels? Its cool to see what other people are doing from a similar starting point. Also, is yours a sunroof? Mine isnt, but I wish it was! see ya

Gazelle Brown I should have said. It still has the back seat & door panels, they seem to be a tad lighter than what I would call "brown," but they seem to be original. So if ANYONE has any pics of Gazelle Brown interiors, please let me know!
I am planning on getting the interior back to prettymuch stock looking, I think it will look good with the green. I need to find front seats, though.
For wheels I am going with original-style slotted steels in 2-tone, for now anyhow. I'd like to find a set of 5.5" steels to paint, but they all seem to be chrome.
Shoot me some pics if you get any:

java, look through the classifieds on here for some slotted wheels, shouldnt be too hard to find. Mine came with 56-64 style front seats, which I think is kinda cool, makes it look older. Are you gonna go with brown seats as well? It's weird, on the cars with brown/white or green/white door panels, it seems like they mostly came with white seats. I think the brown seats with white piping would look cool as hell. Especially with the brown panels, and some brown carpet. I just paid some a-hole $100 to drill out some bolts that got broken off while separating the body from the pan, and I'm taking it back to the paint shop for a couple touchups. I will send ya some pics when I get it back, soon I hope.

corey as per your smooth headliner (no perf holes) without the hole the headliner might sag as you drive at somewhat high speeds. if you have to have no holes have the trim shop make heavier bows
