Can someone measure the L x W X Height of their box? I'm custom making one from the frame I have and want it similar specs as the Allstate.

Making a wood box I suppose? Wish I still had one so I could get you those. I'm sure some one will chime in, at least I hope so. If I have to I may be able to get them from a friend just over a hour away. But with winter coming I'm not sure when ill be out there next. I can tell you that the floor is almost exactly like the planks used for hard wood floors. Only made out of pine I do believe. The sides sit directly on top of the floor with angled steel brackets at each corner. And stringers under the floor. Not sure if that helps at all but right now that's all I can tell you.

Thanks............looking through this it looks as though it's 42 x 54". Just need to know how deep it is now.

guteandtite you have a PM.

Also guys......I noticed with mine that there is very little suspension movement. Would this be very bouncy on the road if there is little movement? Maybe I can take a leaf out to make it a little cushier. I sat on it and it didn't even move. I only weigh 150lbs but I doubt a 200# guy would make a difference.

Feedback appreciated.

Panel, got anymore pics of the frame of that trailer? Does it have a Allstate id tag?

Also it looks as though a extra leaf or leafs have been added. Looking on singlewheel.com, all the pics show only 3 total leafs on the sears leaf style fork.

Further searching, that does not look like a sears setup at all. Any more info on the trailer? I did see what looked to be similar fork setups in the unidentified section on singlewheel.

Sorry guys for placing the inquiries here but yes this is probably not an Allstate trailer. I guess I know what it is now though.

Can you point me to that pic you saw on the SW web site? I've look threw before but must have missed that one.

I dont see a Montgomery wards listed. But if you look on the lt side its in alphabetical order, click on unidentified and look at some of the trailers there.

Is that frame home made you have?

Realized they are listed as MW, duh.

Under MW unidentified I think there may be a pic of a leaf spring style fork, hard to tell.

Yeah definetly not the same, think I remember seeing the same fork assembly under the unidentified section, though that doesnt tell us what it is. Love a good trailer mystery. Thought about making it a tiny camper? I have that urge, but wouldnt do that to my current single. But weekend after next I should have something sqaush that urge away, as if I need another trailer I have a '67 Apache pop up as well already. lol.

Good luck identifying your trailer, if you figure out what it is let us know. And post some progress pics. I wouldnt discriminate on other brand trailers. If anyone finds any info post it up, I will do the same.

Did it come with a title/vin? Does your state actualy title trailers or not?

Im interested in how you will register the trailer, that is if it needs to be.

I saw on sbs where you were asking about fliping the springs. If you left them in the order they are and flipped em that should work. lol.

Consider looking into phosphoric acid, molasses, oxalic acic, or electrolysis to remove that rust.

Hello all. I wanted to know why don't you use a sealed bearing ? That's what I'm going to use on my trailer. That way you don't have to worry about felt, plastic washers, packing the bearing. I will have to have the rim machined a little to make the bearing fit, But it's not that much to worry about.

I'm in the middle of restoring my 55 Sears Allstate trailer. Here are some pic's, I had it painted to match my 54 bug that I'm also restoring.

Can you not find the sealed bearings in the exact ID and OD? I like the idea of a sealed bearing, but what is the life expectancy of a sealed bearing in that use? I know people use em on swing axle setups when lowered, but that is also a larger bearing spinning slower.

Are the outer lights bus lights?

Cant wait to see it hooked up. Post it up once assembled, even if not on the car.

As for the bearings - I found the correct ID, but couldn't find the exact OD bearing. The bearing I'm using is a high speed, heavy duty machine bearing that is capable of running really high RPM all day long. He said the sealed bearings should last forever, because I not using the trailer all day everyday. The bearings were a little pricey, But I would prefer doing it once and never have to worry about it again. I dropped the rim, axle, bearings, and fork of today at the machine shop.

As for the lights - They are Hella glass bus tail lights. I was going to use snowflakes, but didn't like the way they looked mounted. At some point some one cut a couple big holes for some Mazda tail light. I knew I wasn't going to use those light. So I gave is some thought, and figured I could kill two birds with one stone, So I bought the metal plates that you can us to convert your later bus light to the round style lights. Here are some more pics to check out.

Gonna look sweet all done.

Post up the info on the bearings. I already did mine, but would consider doing it if they werent to expensive. I know someone who could turn my rim. And Im sure others would be interested.

I'd like to find a Aluminum rim off of a wood box Allstate, so I could polish it.
