| I just finished removing everything from my bug for its restoration. I need some tips on the steps to start restoring the pan with the body on. I got my bug from some people that had it sitting in a field since 1985 but there was surprisingly little rust. The Battery tray is rusted out but the hatter cannels are in good condition and will not have to be replaced. The other question I have is about the front beam and suspension, what do I need to do short of buying a new one? |

| buy new pans cut out the old ones leaving about a 1/2" lip all the way around. trim the new pan to fit and weld it in... try not to cut the pans out where theyre going down it will look cruddy from the bottom. for the front beam i dont know the PO put a ball joint beam in my 63 and didnt put a new frame head in so its barely hanging on.... and four lug up front wide five in back... i got some work to put a link pin beam back into it |
