I want to lower my 65 bug....i do not yet have the front lowering kit, and i do not plan on it for a little while longer, my question is, can i still lower the back if the front has not been. like would it affect handling, or just be unsafe in general??? when i convert to front disc brakes does it matter if i choose a link pin axle beam or a ball joint axle beam. i would like a ball joint axle beam to be honest...because if im not mistaken isnt the link pin not as good, and the original style that beetles came out with???

don't you think it would look kinda odd if the back was low ant the front wasn't? I would look like you had a lot of weight in the back. That's just my opinion, though. I you want to do it, go for it.

I agree, it will look odd. But you could put a few sandbags up front to compensate.
Since your car has link pin suspension, that's what you'll need. Changing to BJ is a SUPER-MAJOR undertaking, and generally not recommended.

A well assembled link pin assembly will give you many years of trouble free service. The converting to a balljoint front end idea is fine as long as you convert the pan with it. For the sake of stability, I would say to wait until you drop the nose of the car and then lower the rear accordingly. There is a quality wide 5 disc kit available from CB. This kit works with your earlier link pin front end.
