View original topic: Distributor is STUCK

The distributor in my '60 36hp is stuck. I mean, really stuck. I've got the clamp loose enough to rattle around, but the Bosch won't budge. It's kinda tapered on the bottom, so pry tools don't get a good leverage point. I've tried soaking it with liquid wrench... hammered with a chisel on the edge of the vacuum advance almost enough to bend it a little. Well, actually, just enough to bend it a little.

Kinda (ungh) hard to (oof) get something (ergh) in there (slip ouch) to pry with.

Heck, yes, it's rusty, that's why the engine was cheap. Anything I'm overlooking here? Thanks in advance. God bless Everett Barnes.

If you don't plan to re-use the distributor, use a pipe wrench or a channel lock on the body of the distributor. gently twist, with a slight pulling action, and use lots of lubricant. uh, and don't take that last sentence out of context and use it against me.

You may want to get the dist. at it's base, under the body. with a pair of vice grips. Wrap the jaws in several layers of cloth, as to not damage the dist body. Patience is a virtue here. A lil PBlaster penetrating lube wouldn't hurt either.
