| If you are going to have a car that sits around for a while then I recommend either taking the battery out, or disconnecting the negative of the battery. Are you running the car now and the battery is draining? That would mean that either your generator is bad or the wiring. Probabally the generator if it has been sitting for a prolonged amount of time. |

If the generator has not been used for a long time it can sometimes lose it's magnetism and won't charge no matter how fast you spin it.
The answer is to polarise it.
Have a look at this procedure for checking out the generator, regulator and battery, and it also tells you how to polarise the generator. All you need is a volt meter (or VOM).

Nice cars - the 68s. Yours should have a finger-indent for opening the fuel door - the 69s had the first internal release.
