Well I bought my beetle from Cali. back at the end of Nov. Today was the 1st time I was able to really take it for a drive . (that around the block a couple of time junk dosn't count)All I got to say is WOW!!! For being a 37 year old car, it was tight, no rattles and drove like a dream . Its been over 18 years since Ive driven a bug and was just as fun today as it was back then .I was able to put 50 miles on the odo today. The wife really liked it too since it was her 1st time in a aircooled bug and just couldn't get over how simple the dash layout is (she drives a Toyota LandCruiser). I could have drove it for hours but it got cloudy and just as I was putting it away it was just starting to flurry. The car has never seen snow or salt and im not going to make it now.
I feel like a kid with a new toy and just can't wait for the next nice day.

Sorry about the rambling but It was just great :)

What exactly is it like to drive a Beetle? I hope to
find out in the not too distant future.

I got to drive my car this past weekend too. I just finished a body off resto a few weeks ago ('56 hardtop, strato silver, all original restoration) and it had rained every day since. Plus I was having some mechanical difficulties that I finally figured out and I finally got to take it out for a nice drive. It was amazing how many people commented on the car, made all the hard work worth it! I can't wait for some more nice weather!

Well the car is just a stock 65 beetle that i did a little this and that to it like fix the voltage regulator, replaced some of the old weaterstripping cleaned this and that . I dont have any pixs of it on the internet but here are a couple from the place i got it from .

The text for all of the pixs are there but
the rest pixs are gone.

As for driving a beetle its not easy to put to words . It reminds me of riding my motorcycle, simple, basic and fun. You feel the road, the car, and hear it too . Not some mushy, closed off from everything like most new cars .

HTH some
