my friend wants to buy a 64 bug on a 66pan,The guy wants $2100 for it.I think the car is in VERY bad condition,but he loves it,THe bug has a 1914cc on dual delartos(40s)and a racing trans that he said it cost $1200, and all the gears are weled on.I drove it and the engine sounds alright but the trans is tight.It also has a stage 1 KEP clutch.I say the car isnt worth that much cus its not on a 64 pan, Is it worth $2100?I say no, he says yes. tell me what u think. thanks

Price depends as much on where you are, as the condition of the car. A $1000 car in CA can get $2500+ in Chicago!
Rust is the enemy! If there is major rust in the channels $2100 is too high. Go to
www.thebugshop.org & read the "What to look for" article before deciding.

It sounds like it has some nice enhancements. If the condition is good, I don't see what the problem would be. I would do a thorough check on the engine (compression check, etc.) and find out why the guy's selling all his eggs in that particular basket. If it's rusted, dented, and/or gutted, it could be a problem, but otherwise, sounds OK to me (on paper).

the engine is fine and the trans too. It will need all 4 fenders,front hood,front apron,back apron,brake hoses,doors are slanted,steers to the right when braking & ugly paint.Too much for the amount of money he wants, right?

Yeah, that pretty much sucks. You should have a solid car for $2100. It doesn't make any sense to spend that much on all that racing crap if the inside and outside of the car are shot. Check this out:
