My family owns a 1958 Edsel Ranger four-door sedan.
Now that you're done laughing, it needs serious help. The front end has been previously disassembled, and we don't have any way of knowing how it needs to be reassembled. Anyone with any technical drawings and knowledge on these sort of cars will be greatly appreciated.
The car shares the chassis and body with the 1957 and '58 Fords. If you can find any stuff on them, that would be immensely helpful!
Here are the only pictures of it that are online:
The body mounts are rusted away, and there are holes in the floors where the driver puts his feet.
Please help! And please don't laugh! |

Whenever I have questions about my Volkswagen, I go look for a Buick or
Dodge or Pinto forum. Just a suggestion. |

Here's my buddy's '59. What exactly are you looking for? He has a 1959 Edsel service manual, so I can probably find some info for you, although I don't know how much body info is in it. Does yours have a straight six?

No, ours has the E-400 V-8 (I think it's 361ci). Also, I found a shop manual that I think should also help with the reinstallation of the front suspension. :D However, if you could get a few pictures of the front suspension, that would be extremely helpful. I'm not sure how different 1958s were from '59s, however... |

| Guy who sold us this house had a beautifully restored 58 convertible and a 60 sedan. Both of them leaked a lot of oil. There is a regional Edsel club in here in the PNW that he is active in. |

| How can you love a VW and not love an Edsel? They are at totally different ends of the automotive spectrum, but are each cool in their own way! |

| The car is very simple. I used to have a manual, but wouldn't even know where to look right now. Any 57-60 Ford manual should be identical enough with it to put it back together. Actually, you should be able to look at the parts and almost know where they go. Good luck. |

| Edsel's are interesting. Get a Type 4 as well to round out the collection. |

I haven't posted here in forever, but I just wanted to put something here:
My mom figured out how to reinstall the front suspension, so maybe this car can finally move for the first time in over five years! :D
I have many more pictures too, including the Teletouch transmission controls and other Edsel-specific things, if anyone wants to see them. |
