Cool first car. My first was a '68 Auto Stick . . .though I never drove it, needed restoring. I went on to a '72 SB, then a '65 and finally . . 18 years later. . . another '65.

Congrats ! ! !

My first car was a 61 rag, still have it. Bugs are good cars. Just dont try doing burn outs/donuts/reving engine and driving it like a hot rod, something will go wrong. Theres my advice.

good for you buggy - enjoy it - i got my 1st bug in about 1965 - took a saber saw to it - chop ft & bk - use for hunting - we use to chase jack rabbits at night with it in the peach orchards - blow a piston - go to the junk yard - pick up a used one - (normally 2 because it would blow the skirt off opposite side also ) - they were a buck or so each - size didn't matter as long as it would fit in the jug - pretty cheap overhaul :)

I will post pictures soon(maybe in a week or so).I have about $530 dollars to put into the car . the first thing im gonna do is get a super screamer kit($129), tint all windows, which will leave me with about $310 left what would be a good invest ment? I was thinking of getting dual kadron carbs cause they are the only duals that sound good and I can afford. really the only thing that could be replaced is the dash because it is cracked(no bad though just a few little ones).but I need some insight on what would benefit me most with my $310 that I have left.

Bugs are awesome to have as a first car. I knew I wanted one ever since I saw Herbie: The Love Bug when I was 10! Now I'm 16 and got my '67 just 5 weeks ago (only allowed to drive it on my own for 2 weeks, lol)!

I'm almost 18 and have been a VW nut as long as I can remember. I got my '71 Beetle(not my first, actually my 4th) a little over two years ago and I have driven every day since. Nothing beats a Bug. I absolutely love it and don't want anything else('cept maybe a 911). Be good to the Bug, it's a VW not a Ferrari so don't drive it like it is one.

My first car was ( and still is) a '69 Bug. They are great cars, take care of the bug and it will take care of you.

my first car is a 69 hardtop also, and i got to know it really well through a autostick to manual conversion. i just turned 16 at the beginning of this month, and am looking forward to getting my liscence and getting that baby blue bug out on the road.

My first car was a '69 hardtop too. It was in pretty rough condition and I overheated the motor after about 150 miles. Eventually sold it without the engine to somebody who did a full restoration on it.
