Just droped the Sr. Project on the ground after rebuilding the entire rear suspension. I marked, measured, photoed, ect. the rear before I took it apart, but all that is on a hard drive that blew.

The car is a 1970 with IRS, and I am going for stock height.

Somehow, I have managed to get 1 spring plate off by prolly 1 spline.
What I need to know is, what should the distance be between the bottom of the spring plate and the stop when the car is on the ground.
The drivers side is 1/4" lower than the passenger, but I do not know it drivers side needs to go up, or passenger side down!

In my humble opinion it's too much difference at the wheel.

How did you set the spring plate angle?

What I do when I want near-vertical rear wheels on an early stock IRS is to first level the frame-tunnel using the 'flat' behind the e-brake lever as the measuring point (use a large 'magnetic' angle-finder from a hardware store if need be, put it on the 'flat' and set it to zero).

With spring pressure off the spring plates (off the stops, no diagonal arms, if I'm down this far I always put in new bushings) and using an angle-finder I set each sides spring plates to 22 degrees measuring on the top edge of the spring plates.

This usually yields near zero degrees camber on each wheel. I set a slight amount of toe-in, .020" or so, measured on 'true' rims at 3 & 9 o'clock. I also try to keep the 'racking' of the 'wheel-pair' to under 1/8" from the vehicle centerline (measured at the transaxle center-rib per Bentley).

Hope these suggestions help.
