Can I use a swing axle transmission and differential from a type3 on a type1?

if you have done a 12-volt conversion on the '66, it may work (12 volt flywheels were larger). i dont know about the T-3 to T-1 crossover, though. your' best bet would be to find another tranny from a pre-67 beetle, but not to old so that you have a non-sinchronyzed (misspeled, i know) tranny. i would go with one as close to your' year as possible.
