Moved to the center...

Welded the middle section...

And the the passengers side of the inner valance, that its a bit different from the center...

And welded in place..

Etched primed...

Needed to make the frame-inner valance reinforcements (dont know what theyre called lol)

And etched primed them...

Moved on the make the Center and passengers outer valance sections...
Passenge's section..

Center section...which I decided to divide in half for better fitment..

Fully welded...

Grinded and plug welded the inner valance with the outer.... I left out the drivers inner because I'm redoing the driver inner section. It came out sloppy ( it was my first time in metal replacement and well lets just say I can do a little better now, lol)

Move on to sort out the bottom nose replacement... I was gonna do only some sections, but decided to do the whole bottom 4"...Also did it in sections starting with the hardest, the center...

Moving on, I saw I would have to replace some small sections before tackling the lower nose...

Time for etch primer...

After much thought and research I decided to give it a shot at fabbing the lower nose... here are some shots of the outcome...

Ok, so Im kinda happy of how it turned out and a bit proud. Lol I know, its not the Funky Green stuff, which is freaking awesome, but I just cant afford it right now and I have to be resourceful and try to put my artistic influence to work fro me right now.

Opened the passengers side...Will also need some metal replacement..

Hello everyone, well, if there's anyone out there lol. I'd love to hear some feedback, I know its probably not the best work, but Im doing my best with what i got.
I also want to take a line or two to thank everyone on this site who posts their projects, progress and insight on how they do things. If it wasnt for ya'll who take your time to take pics while work on your buses, I would have never done anything or even have the courage to start!, So thanks Samba members!

Looking good, I like to see people fabbing their own panels, its almost a lost art with all the replacement panels available. The only thing I fabbed up on mine was the battery tray. I figure nobody can see it anyway, and why pay $40 for something you can make for $10. Keep up the good work.

Shaun, Thanks! I mean I'm kinda forced to b/c of my situation but I have to admit, Ive had a lot of fun and its exciting to know that I fabbed them myself. The process is longer but way more satisfying. At least thats been my experience. Thanks for taking the time and the encouragement.

Yo man, looking good and you can say you made it yourself! I think its awesome seeing a bus (or any car for that matter) that someone did on their own with nothing but the will to do it, keep it up man. I have some nose work to do myself on the 59, it's not something i'm looking forward to doing but seeing you and other people on here do it makes me think it'll be ok. Im glad your having fun with it.

Jerry thanks for the encouraging words man, they mean a lot. I would have to say the same with you and your project! I'm heading to the garage in a few minutes, and yes, Ill see you at the NDBS!

so cool that ur doing all the fab work. i wish i had more time to work on mine . keep up the good work cant wait to see more pics .keeps me motivated thanks for taking the pics and posting them. what size tires you thinking of running. im dropping my camper the same way dont want the rubbing issues

Chopper, Thanks for you the encouragement! Taking pics is time consuming but well worth for the sake of everyone and for the documentation of one's hard work! :wink:

Then I got a package in the mail...the last of the metal I need to finish the metal work...
Floor-inner and outer cargo door rocker section!
Need not to buy any more metal!!!!! My wallet feels great :lol:

Back to work....

Tomorrow, I grind and I already started on my driver's door sills that are rotted. Already measured, cut and bent to the correct measurements. I will take pics of them and the install tomorrow. Then I will be able to fit the driver's door and check the gaps. If all goes well I weld the driver's bottom dogleg and install the door back!

Excellent progress. I fabbed the lower outer for my bus as well and can appreciate your efforts. Keep the pics coming. By the way, where in Orlando do you live? I actually live In Oviedo. Would love to check out your project. I have several extra parts left over that you might need that I would gladly donate.
