So we're cruzing up the California coast the other day in our Audi.. Wifey doesn't really like the bug.... And it occurs to me that whenever i drive the coast , i have distinct memories of all the long up hill grades. We've been up the coast countless times and i recognize areas even if its been years since i was last through.. But these long up hill grades i literally remember each turn, trees , and other deja vue type memories...
Well then it occurs to me.. ..as were cruzing 60 + up these grades in the Audi.....When i used to drive my Bug on the coast...countless times... these are all those "grades" that i would have to prep for by first speeding on the downhill approach to them and that i would be lugging at 30 to get to the tops.. In other words i spent a lot of time going slowly up these hills taking in the scenery and that's why i remember these "grades" so well. |

| I always thought I was going slow up the hills in the beetle. Then I got the 36 horse power bus. |

Remember the HILLS !??!
My memory is of turning the steering wheel and down shifting for turns.......... constantly!!! Though most of my California coastal driving experiences are between Crescent City and the Bay Area.
