| For whatever reason, that seems to be the case on this site. |

Yes, they are disabled so that you get the "click" text as it clogs up the readability of the site when they are on.
I'm on a couple other sites where it's enabled and I personally find it annoying. |

| On the sites I moderate, we allow sig pics, but they're only viewable one post per page view in a thread. So if you post in a thread, the sig only shows one time until the post count triggers the next page--if a thread is five pages long, you'll only see a member's sig up to five times in that thread. Seems like a rather happy compromise...but that would require changes, and I know change is hard 'round here. |

Which sites? I'd like to see how that sigline image looks. |

I just googled "sig pic" and found a thread example. Kind of clutters up the page.

There are already people listing the 15 vw's they own in their sig line... pictures would just add to the mess IMHO. |

I'm not sure what to tell you about the image, but I can forward an example of the one sig per page concept. Here's a thread I started in a section I moderate, where you can see that my sig shows up in my first post, but no others on the first page, and then it shows up again on the second page, but not the third, 'cause I didn't have a sig when I posted during that period...but it shows up again just once on the fourth page. |

To expand a little further since some examples were posted above, I find it interrupts the readability of a thread.
At least one of the examples above has an example of another thing I would not implement for the same reason - having an ad in-between forum posts.
I also agree that there are some signatures on here, for instance people who post every car they have ever owned in a long vertical line, that are also excessive. I typically ask these people to use a more horizontal signature.
We did have signature images in the past. |

The only reason you see the ads (that site is notorious for the ads and it drives the mods crazy) is because you're not registered. Once registered, you won't see those ads in-between posts, but there are a bunch of others you're bombarded with, unless you opt for a Premium Membership--extortion. Don't go crazy with the ads, but a single sig per page doesn't seem too meddlesome. |

rather than a single sig pic per page, wouldn't it be more like 20 of them if every person that posted on a page has one?
I can see where that dilutes the message and simply becomes just a page of eye-candy.... very distracting from what the actual information is... |

I find pictures in signatures do make it hard to follow.
I also wish when someone quotes a post with pictures, they're remove the pictures. |

or, at the very least, only include the relevant pictures... just quoting the whole damn thing is lazy... |

I've been on some forums that automatically set the quoted pictures into links to the pictures for better viewing of the topics.
And when you quote someone that quotes another person it only shows the more recent posters quote, It can be hard to follow In long threads sometimes.
OP, to make your sig more unique you can add the little VW emoticons, ive seen a few that do that
One can also disable signatures in the user control panel>preferences. |

I have considered that but I don't believe it's a HUGE issue, more like one that people do from time to time. I sometimes edit the post and remove all the quoted pics except 1. When and if I see it, or if gets reported, which does happen. If it became a big issue, I probably would do this.

If it's just text or limited photos I prefer that. I feel it keeps things clearer overall but obviously if it's 15+ quotes in a row, it can look ridiculous on the screen. |

It is. The 1 per page per user is a nice middle ground if you are trying to cut down on the graphics but it works best if it's only 2 or 3 people going back and forth. If there's lot of different contributors, it would still be lots of signatures.
I don't have any concrete stats but off the top of my head from reading here, I am fairly certain that most threads in the major sections here have many different contributors. |

I have several Toyota forums that I could choose from for my truck. I find, if given the choice of sites on a certain topic, I am always picking the site without Sig Pic.
They are just another form of "bling" and it is very cluttery I think the gallery option works great. |
