ok so after finding all the rust im thinking time to get the body off. i got the doors lined up and welded a support frame on the inside. took all the bolts out and fuel tank, wires and all that. it was then ready to lift so i lifted the body and the wife slid some stools (almost stools somewere els to) under. same with the back and rolled the floor pan out. i the knocked up a dolly so a can move the body easy.

You are going in the correct direction. Most deffinetly have your work cut out for you. I always like to see picture of those in different countries and the surroundings. Heck I had to goggle Wales to get a geography lesson.

ye plenty to do on it. we are in pembrokeshire in wales and live no more than 15 mins away from around 30 beaches. so the salt air has got to it. im hoping i will have it on the road this time next year. we have small houses dont we. and to think i payed £175000 for it. bet you get more for you cash over there. :D

That car would make one badass volksrod, you should consider staying fenderless.

andelises Mon May 30, 2011 12:31 pm

iv taken the front beam off a few days ago and cut in some say-a-way adjusters. that gave me a 3" drop with no load or whight of the floor pan or body so im gessing it will give me arond 4" when car sitting on it aswel. just got to grid the welds flat now and sand blast it ready for paint. then gave it 2 coats of zinc 182 then two coats of hammerite.

over the weekend i took the motor and gear box off along with all the running gear :o

looking great! Pan inserts seem to be in good condition.. skipping the need for replacements.

thanks. ye they are very gud apart from the battery tray will need replacing. but thats not the end of the world

andelises Sun Jun 12, 2011 4:45 am

hi does any one no if i will need short shocks and caster shims as i am lowering the front on say-a-way adjusters and the back 2 inner splines

twowheeletex Sun Jun 12, 2011 3:58 pm

I'll start off with I'm not an expert, but i'd say no on the short shocks. your range of travel is still the same. you just changed the preload on your spring packs in the beam. if you plan on going super low it might not hurt though. as far as camber shims. depends on what you plan to do with the rear end. if it stays the stock height giving the car an overall rake look then probably, but an overall even drop in height shouldn't mess with the stock caster. just my 2 cents fwiw.

andelises Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:20 am

hi thanks for that. its one thing that i was really unshore about . the front will be going down around 3inches and back 2 splines. :)

vw_hank Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:29 am
