I'm not really too familiar with these, but it looks to me as if the bottom shock sleeve is stuck on the stud?
The car had no shocks and I'm trying to put new shocks on it. Can anyone give me a clue to what is going on here beacause I'm not really sure....thanks in advance!!!!

penetrating oil over night and some vicegrips.
If that doesn't work, try heating with a torch and re oiling after it cools and visegrip again. |

Had the same issue with mine.
That is the old spacer stuck on the stud. Some penetrating oil as mentioned above and a pipe wrench work well to remove it as well. |

I just had that problem and I used some heat then sprayed some penetrating oil then hit it a couple times with a big hammer to try to break it loose then put vise grips on really really tight and started to move it back and forth till it slide off.
Took a little while but don't let it get you down it will come off with some good ol' elbow grease. |

| Use a grinder on the old one until it gets hot/thin and moves. |

thats not a good idea :? going to make the spigots what ever you call them hard and likely brittle.
Hopefully they wont break on you when you go over lots of bumpy roads  |

Vise grip pliers worked for me. At first no matter how hard I clamped down on the sleeve it would just slip but I discovered a trick that only takes a few seconds to get them off.
Take your vise grip pliers and clamp them around the sleeve as hard as you can so that the teeth in the pliers sink into the groove on the sleeve. That groove is the key to it. Once you get it in there work the pliers back and forth while pushing it off at the same time. Should pop right off. The pliers may have to be adjusted several times so that they stay in that groove. Hope this helps. |
