I have a 1971 914-4. The problem is the door locks. Inside the door lock mechanism is a nylon piece, that when broken, does not allow the key to unlock the door and open it.
The key turns fine in the tumbler, but when you lift on the door paddle on the outside of the car, the door won't open. The passenger side was broken when I bought the car and when I went to unlock the driver's door today, evidently this piece has broken on the driver's side. The doors are locked and I can't get them open.
Any suggestions other than breaking a window? |

I can see inside the car that turning the key in the door lock actuates the inside lock/unlock lever. If there were some way to get something inside to reach over and pull the inside door handle the door could be opened. I'm sure that it is the little nylon piece on the door latch that has broken.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you deal with it?
