Anyone have this exhaust and think it's too loud. When I'm doing 70 down the freeway I feel like my head is going to explode, not to mention I can't hear my tunes. I was curious what other owners have to say. Thanks

Yep mine was too loud (magna flow muffler) as well, i went all out with fire wall insulation both sides. Great performance though, So..... I've given up on the radio and listen to the 48IDA's instead.
What 4th gear have you got, a .89 or a .82 will keep the revs down as long as the engine stays cool enough. |

I had it and it was too loud for me. I switched to the Vintage Speed's exhaust out of Taiwan. Great sound, not too loud, awesome performance, and great workmanship. In my opinion so much better than the sidewinder. I have had both their system with tuned header and now currently with high flow heater boxes.

Ian, I didn't mention in my post that I had a 2110 in my car. I was wondering what size motor you were running? I'm wondering if the tailpipe facing the ground has a lot to do with the noise?? I have a freeway flyer tranny. W1 sterling I'll look into the Vintage speed exhaust. What size motor are you running?

2110, When I had the A1 I had him him weld a 45 elbow to have the exhaust point backward instead of down, it did make a difference but still too loud for me. I love my Vintage Speed exhaust!

The tail pipe on my A-1 Sidewinder muffler points more to the rear than down. It's less than 1 year old, so maybe they changed how they do those. I don't think the muffler is that loud, but then I'm not trying to listen to music. There's so much road and mechanical noise, I decided to just listen to those.

my engine is 2387 and the pipe is extended a bit to exit behind the rear wheel, extending the pipe didn't help.

That's funny you say that Ian because Tiger at A1 said that extending it so that it exits just beyond the rear apron would definitely quiet things down. How quiet, I don't know. There was NO change at all when you redirected your tailpipe?

I'm working on making mine quieter using the A1 header and a different muffler. I'll give a full report when I've got it installed and road tested. Thanks for everyone's input.

Almost 10 months have past since I last posted on this topic, and I'm back with some pictures and good news. After discussing my problem at a club meeting(ages ago) one of our members mentioned that his buddy had the same problem with his Camero. The drone from his muffler on the freeway was too loud. He had found a muffler called the Dynomax VT that claimed to eliminate the drone. I can tell you that the claims are true! I purchased one, and along with another one of our very talented club members we fabricated a new exhaust that clamped to the A-1 Sidewinder header. I'm not really sure whether I've lost any HP from my 2110, but I don't really care. Its very little if any, and the oil temps have remained normal. Its nice to be able to hear the radio again. :D

That is very nice... any thoughts on selling those. I wouldn't mind a little less noise out of my sidewider... |

It's funny because I was thinking that my A1 sidewinder muffler is also very noisy.
I'm happy to have found this discussion
I have a 2387
Do you know if I switch to the Vintage Speed's exhaust out of Taiwan, it wil be easy to install?

xilly, I liked how it sounded running around town, but when I got on the freeway heading to a show that was an hour away, that's when it began to bother me.
