| even after an engine rebuild, my '72 411 had the shakes and had problems starting when cold. I took it to a type 4 specialist and he told me the engine builder used short spark plugs. They replaced them with long ones and it purrrs like a kitten, and gained power and it doesn't shake. I am a happy type 4 owner! |

| Yeah, all the Type 4s take a long- reach plug, BP6ES is the NGK number if I recall. Can't remember the Bosch offhand. It's been years! |

Is that all Type 4 engines or just 411/412? |

Yes...all type 4's. The 411/412 is the original type 4 vechicle from which all other type 4 engined vehicles got their engines. Except for a few differences they are basically the same.
BP6ES is one of the plugs....is the most standard plug...that you might use in a type 4 engine. It depends on compresssion, and how you drive it (ignition settings play in as well). For most high compression 411/412 and 914 applications with stock injection I have found that Bosch W7DTC and NGK BP6ET work best. Ray |
