View original topic: Moving to Italy. Should I take my 69 Westy?

Just got a job in Naples, Italy. I can have one car shipped over. We have a Mazda and my 69 Westy bus. I have read that finding car parts can be really difficult. I'm wondering if parts for my bus would be more available, and weather it would be a better size for the streets than our Mazda Mini Van. Any opinion? Thanks

hi there
we live in the UK and have been to italy quite a few times. parts are not a problem that i'm aware of for the mazda, and gettting parts for the bus should be easy too. i use a company caleed "Just Kampers". also is "The Brickyard " and "VW Heritage"
Being a part of the E.U. shipping between countries isn't restricted either.
The roads there can be small and narow, and the drivers follow there own rules.
If it was me i'd take the bus, buy a small car there Like a fiat panda or 500. any car i've had to buy are fairly inexpensive and E.U regulations state they need to go through a MOT every year (like a safey check here) so you know the car should be OK
there are loads of places to camp and the roads are amazing. you can make it from italy to france in hours and can be in england in 24hrs using feries in france or spain.
we would love to be in your shoes. Lucky you and good luck!

I wouldn't take it, bureaucracy in Italy is a nightmare and Napoli isn't the best place in Italy to have anything that stands out!!!!!
Good luck with the job in Italy. 4 months to go, and counting ;-)

'but this is italia'.............third world of Europe, so some people say!!!!!
