View original topic: Type 3 Fastback rear damage

Greetings! I posted this in the type 3 forum, but it may be more appropriate here.

I've begun the restoration process on a 1970 Fastback when I came across this damage in the passenger side trunk area. After noticing the passenger side of the rear apron had bondo/repair evidence it appears the car was smacked in the corner and caused this buckle to the trunk deck and distortion to the wheel well area.
How bad is this damage? Since a lot of this area is rusty, how do I go about repairing/pulling this straight to restore the original dimensions? I can't just cut out the buckled metal and and patch because then it would just be flat but the body still slightly crooked. Seems I would either have to pull the existing metal straight (assuming I knew how much) and then patch, or cut the whole corner to pieces and replace from a donor while carefully referencing my cuts to good undamaged metal.
I'm new to bodywork so any recommendations from the more experienced are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike
