Which is bigger- The show at Farmington, NC in (I think) April and October, or BugOut in Manassas, VA :?:
If you were going to travel several hours to either one, which would be most impressive? No worthwhile shows in my area and wanted to take the kids to one of the bigger ones..thanks

Never been to Bugout but have heard some negatives about it. Farmington is one of my favorite shows of the year and I always go to both of them.

They are both big shows but I would say farmington is better. But they are both good.

Thanks, I think I'll go to Farmington in October...my son is at an age where he's fascinated with anything mechanical and would enjoy it..

I went to my first bug out back in 09. I have always wanted to go to this show. After an 8 hour drive in memorial day traffic, I can tell you I wasn't impressed. Don't know if it was an off year, I guess I was just expecting more.

Farmington and Bug Out are what I call triple shows. They have triple events within themselves. Drag racing, Car Show and Swap Meet.

I have never been to the Bug Out. I have spoken to a large amount of Venders, attendents and racers who have gone since way back in the early 80's. Some venders have told me if ther parts are not secure, they get some stuff "lifted". Some racers have complained about the track surface being rough. Some car show attendants have complained about the invasion of the water pumpers with disdain.

I have attended Fast Times at the Farm both Spring and Fall for the past 7 years. The track is super smooth. The swap meet is laid back and very friendly. The car show has maybe 5% water pumpers in it with at least 200 show cars on a bad weather weekend, and more when the weather is pretty. The Spring show is slightly better, maybe because everyone has camper fever over the winter.

I plan on making a Bug Out next year so I can say I have been and can judge for myself.

If your son has never been, Farmington is a great first VW show to go to and you will not be disappointed, plus it is a lot closer to you.
