New pictures and videos on last page
Well hello there,
My name is Marcin and just this weekend I bought a 1969 Bay. This is a 2 owner bay and well I will be the third. Buying if from a older couple who drove it around to camp in around the country. It has been sitting for a year as her husband had a stroke and developed dementia. And she cant drive it, so she decided to sell it...for the great price of 800 dollars.
It has all of the original tool kit, mesh screens, everything is in GREAT shape. Has some surface rust and is all original. The passenger door on the bottom that is just surface rust.
Questions are what should I do , where do I get fuel hose from.

Nice bus and a great bargain for 800 bucks!
I'm not in the US so others probably can give better advice, but in Europe you can buy the fuel line from any auto parts store.
I'd replace the tires as well, especially since the rear tires are flat :D |

Nah I like the tires the way they are... ;)
Makes it seem like I'm driving off road all the time.
Also, what model is this? |

One of the first things to do will be to buy your bus it’s own ABC fire extinguisher, and Replace all fuel line components from gas tank to carburetor…
German Supply has a kit that includes the fuel lines, metal line(and important Metal line Rubber Grommet)
and proper OE style clamps(tat will not cut/damage fuel line)
Then there is going through the breaks (lots you do not want to have bad breaks, remember to leave more room between you and the car in front of you, as you do not have ABS and most cars have better breaks than you do)
Posting a couple good pictures of your engine (Above, Below etc) will help you get good feedback on any potential problems…[/b] |

| Hey man, That is a really nice first paint bus. The weekenders are nice. Less common than a pop top. But man that original paint is the shit. Proof one more time that there are still deals to be had. I like your bus. Have fun. |

| Hey buddy, That's one of the nicest scores to be seen in a while. Did it come with that roof rack also? Don't just replace the tires, those are car tires on it now. Have you had a chance to read through the tire sticky. Treat that baby nice and she'll be good to you. Congrats. |

Yup read the tire sticky and the fire sticky.
Yes the roof rack comes with the bus as well.
For now I will just get some used tires to roll it till I get it all fixed up.
Any tips for a first time Bay owner? |

Welcome. Good score brother! Very good score. How's the undercarriage?
A weekend of elbow grease and vacuuming should make that bus sparkle.
Look forward to more photos. :D |

The best tip I can give you is; think three times before buying any parts for you bus, good quality non OEM parts are hard to find and many people are just trying to make a buck off VW enthusiasts, also HP parts for Bugs or T3 often are not suitable for T2 buses…
An other tip is engine heat management is the number one concern for underpowered T2 buses powered by T1 engines, and an Oil Temp and Pressure Gauges are some of the best investments you can make for your bus, I also like CHT gauges as your heads can overheat very fast on a hot day or going up a big hill and it will take a couple of minutes for the oil temp to let you what is going on… to survive your bus needs every piece of cooling tin, every rubber seal and all thermostat parts to be there and in good condition…
Other than that, keep it running so you can go camping whenever you feel like it, and if you keep it stoked with some non perishables food and essentials it is a great emergency preparedness resource ;0)
And as said before “Posting a couple good pictures of your engine (Above, Below etc) will help you get good feedback on any potential problems…

the undercarriage is amazing. Has the fabric or insulation for around the heater channel that is brand new looking.
I will have more pictures wed as it is still at her house till I get tires and transport set up.
Is the interior seating supposd to be like a golden vinyl? Or was it redone
Thank you for the comments so far :) |

That mustard colored vinyl is what originally came with these buses. I'm guessing this new bus of yours is quite original, but without more pics, who knows? |

You'll want to get that tire off the rear bed ASAP unless you want a permanent circular purply brown ring stained into the vinyl
Nice score BTW  |
