Hello. any one who have this mirror for the standard VW 1949(june 1949), according to some books I have, it should be a painted mirror(no chrome) with the shape of a football(rugby/am.fotb.).

If your car is one of the original Moller-imports to Norway via Denmark...then it is a "Standard Export"-model....basically a Standard, but with chrome handles, bumpers and hubcaps..and the square shiny mirror.

My car is an German standard, delivered i june 1049 to VW Fleischauer in Köln, Germany. It cam to Norway early 70 s. But if it ended i april 1949 with the Fussball-spigel, then I don t ned it, but I have read in som book, that they used it on regular standards longer thar may 1949...who knows??

well june 1949 is it....not 1049...LOL

my car is totaly ribbed for chrome, only chorem parts I got is the rektangular interior mirror, and my frontlights?

Ah June 1949, Your June 1049 probably doesn't even have a rear view mirror :lol:

The painted football mirror was used on standards at least through August 13th 1949.

Sorry for the incorrect info in my first post. Many years ago I dismantled a car for parts - this was German Standard from early September 1949. It had the football-mirror as well.

If you want a football-mirror...you either search for years and years and buy a very expensive original.....or you buy one from ebay which is really a Ford-mirror in 99 out of 100 cases.....or you get a perfect repro from Jacek:
