What is the paint and body work costing, if you don't ind me asking?

you really do not want to know. THis is at European Auto Body in BOulder, CO. It very pricey. But very worth it if done right. To fix a hole on poptop, repair dents, dings, and rear end damage on body, paint just body and door jams,(no interior) , also to deal with alitthe paint and rust in engine compartment where battery and, to straighten both OG bumpers and powdercoat, strip and powdercoat 4 wheels it will cost $7,800

AB westy nut Fri Sep 16, 2011 2:56 pm

$7800 doesn't actually sound that bad for all the work they're doing. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Bodywork costs are obscene, but in the relative picture, this is a good price for a comprehensive job like you are describing.

curtis4085 Sat Sep 17, 2011 9:02 pm

thats what i was thinking about the price. Ands now that i read my contract its actually $6,800 for that work. The shop owner Vladimere is super detailed. Was out the day i brought it in marking all the little dings and dents, some of wich i had not spotted. He is also taking pictures for me along the way and making a CD at the end. Finally have gotten a good fan shroud. The plan was to clean and paint the fan shroud but now that I have it looking pretty clean i was thinking that maybe i would leave it the way it is. Natural OG. What would you do?

AB westy nut Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:59 pm

I would bead blast and clear coat it. Or just leave it bare metal. Whatever you do, keep us posted. I'll be doing mine soon as well.

I try to leave everything as close to stock and original as possible, as long as it doesn't look too crappy. If it was me, I'd leave it, but most others would paint it. There is no right or wrong. What can you live with?

It's easy to change something, but it's hard to get it back to what it was.

we painted ours. The magnesium will turn brown again pretty quickly.

Bead blast and clear coat or Natural is the 2 choices I think I like best. When it comes to the clear coat, should that be a powder coat product for the best application or are we talking rattle can gloss? ANd Kent what product?color did you use on your engine? curious. Thanks for all the great comments everyone :D

Heads ordered from Len Hoffman - Hoffman Automotive machine. Hoping to have engine done in 4 weeks.

Having hard time locating parts. If anyone has any contacts please help.
Heres a few that are just buggers

oval-Grommet heater tube right 021-119-337
heater box gaskets 021-256-325A and 021-256-326A
