View original topic: Radio Shack speaker doesn't work?

Just put a new speaker in my bus for my 6 volt Sapphire radio and no sound. It is from Radio Shack and it is 8 ohms. I hooked the speaker wires to a 4 ohm speaker I had lying around and it worked fine. I guess I need a 6" full range 4 ohm speaker. Anyone have a source?

Thanks,

Scott

Chad,

Just hooked the Radio Shack speaker to my home stereo and it functions just fine. Retried in my bus and no sound. Tried two other 4 ohm speakers just now and they both worked. An electronics guy (he refurbishes Sapphire radios) just told me that the radio is rated for 6-8ohms, but that doesn't seem to be the case here...

Found out the problem. The speaker connection plug in the back was bypassed and the speaker wires were wired direct. The two small holes in the speaker plug need to be shorted to allow the radio to have the proper resistance for the 8 ohm speaker. Shorted the two holes with a wire and the Radio Shack speaker is working...

Thanks for your help...

Scott

No faceplate. Have seen some with them, but they looked like Bug faceplates.

Did you see "Hula Apples" on this website first? If so, I owe Everett. Glad you and your wife are enjoying it.
