Do you have to put the spring action wiper shafts if you have safari windows? Can you use reg. shafts? What exactly does the spring action do? The shafts for safaris seem hard to find and quite expensive. Thanks for your help.

Only early buses use pop out wipper shafts, late 65-67 or so use the aluminum pivots. I think it has to do with wether you have a wipper assy like a bug or the wiper motor that has the round shafts the atatch to the wiper shats but are sepparate. Bad description I'm sure but you would know if you looked.
Wolfgang repo's the early safari shafts but they are $130 last time I asked. You can use the later aluminum pivots but they look wrong on an arly bus, plus you must bend the wippers to toutch the windshilds again. You cannot just put a spring in your pivots, the early safari pivots disconnect internally when you pull them out so you can turn them to clear the safaris. Good luck
