View original topic: installing seatbelts in a 66 d/cab

I have lined up a 66 doublecab, but a deciding factor is if I can install seatbelts in the front and back seats. Does anybody know if this is a problem. I'd hate to find out I can't do it, then the wife would never let me take the kids for a ride.

thanks!!

Congratulations on finding one. My 64 Double Cab has holes for seat belts, but only in the front. I'm not sure what you could do in the rear, perhaps someone else can be of further assistance...

I don't know if this will work but I am sure it could since it does on the single cab. I already had seat belts installed into mine. Someone drilled the anchor holes behind the seat on the back wall for the seat belt bolt/nut setup. Works really good. Since that back seat is right up against that wall, it seems to me it would work well.

at last something I can spout off about! I installed three rear belts and one more in the middle in the front of my 66 double cab and it seems to work ok. (no test crash yet, knock on wood). I drilled into the floor at the recomended 70 degree ( I think) angle into the floor under the rear seat. I was afraid the rear wall was too thin? They are a little short for all but the small and slender. New belts (west coast metric) don''t pair with old belts, different size. I had to bent the washers to fit the shape of the corrrugated floor panels for a tight fit.

My '67 double has factory seat belt mounts in the rear seat storage area under the bed of the truck. There are two diagonal supports on each side. All they are is heavy gauge flat stock welded in with a half dozen weld nuts for the belts to attach to. If you want to go this route, I could send some detailed dimensions - email a request.

I should have mentioned, you have to lie on your back under there to see the rear seat belt mounts. They might be on older trucks too.
