A friend told me my KYB's (they were on my bus when I bought it) are the firmest ones made by KYB. My ride is pretty hard up front on bumps and dips in the road. Which KYB shock is best for a softer ride?

If you have Gas-A-Justs, they suck. The stock style oil-filled are the best and softest. I believe KYB only has 2 styles so it's whichever one is not the Gas-A-Just.

the "silver" kyb's are the softer of the two. the "white" kyb's are the heavy duty. i have used the whites for a long time. i don't mind the stiff ride because i tend to haul alot of stuff all the time and i want the extra support. i have never used the silver ones, but i'd be curious as to why everett thinks the gas-a-justs "suck" so bad. (i don't like a super smooshy soft ride.)

I have the 'white' KYB's. Everett, I'm curious why you dislike the Gas-A-Justs.

I used the silver KYB's and they are plenty firm for my bus. It tends to ride rather stiff coupled with the adjustable beam.

Every Bus I have ever ridden in where they had Gas-A-Just shocks rode like crap.

Maybe those Buses had other issues too but that is my experience.

C'mon Everett....that's like saying I've driven 2 barndoors that drove like crap, so they ALL must drive like crap! :)
Yeah, the "white" ones are stiff, and I do notice bumps more, but I've driven in Bugs and Busses with perfectly good (stock) suspensions and stock Boge or Sachs shocks that made me wanna throw up the ride was so bad. I guess it's all a matter of personal opinion though. :)

When you say they drive like crap, do you mean they are too stiff a ride or what. I seriously want to know. Need to replace mine this week. I agree that the white KYB's are too stiff for my taste, but I don't have anything else to compare to.
