I am about to put in some new window rubber in the safaris to make a better seal. Whoever had the bus before me did a lousy job and it isn't even sealed. What type of glue/adhesive should I use to attach the rubber to the body? (any problems with Wolfsburg rubber?) Thanks!

There is just about nothing you can do to keep them from leaking. No manufacurer,not even VW, solved the problem of leaky safaris. Get used to being wet in wet weather.

yeah, even "non-safaris" leak. i've heard that gluing makes it worse. if you really have to use glue, use 3M weather stripping adhesive. don't get bummed, be happy for the safaris, make sure you have an old towel around to dry up when you put the bus away at night.

I keep two small shop towels behind my front seat. When it rains I roll them up and lay them on the dash at the base of each window.

I spent countless hours trying to seal and adjust the windows so they wouldn't leak. It's tough to keep water from getting in when it's being blasted at the window at 90 MPH...OK, 55.

hehe. I live in oregon I know how this works. I use the GE Silicone II 100% Silicone Sealant Clear...yes I read it right off the bottle. My windows are not the prettiest things when I unseal them for the hot days, but Those things do not leak what so ever even in the hardest rains when I have sealed them. Plus, totally cured in like a couple hours. This is my solution to my leaky safari's. I still keep a couple towels in the truck though. The just in case. I lost one good stereo to water, not losing another.

I hear that. I keep a towel in my bus for the occasional rain. I have lost one radio completely and the one in my bus now turns itself off and on mysteriously due to being shorted out from rain. The rain usually catches me off guard when it comes at night and I've forgotten to put a towel on my dash.
