View original topic: How do you mount the radio speaker?

My current dash speaker is in the right area, but it is jury rigged into place with the four corners of the speaker wired to the grill (looks good with the wires wrapped around the grill on the dash--ha!) I understand that there is a speaker mounting bracket. Does anyone have a photo of one or can explain what I am looking for to mount the speaker correctly?

Thanks,

Marty

Marty-

I have a speaker mounting bracket at home mounted to a speaker. it is just a square piece of metal with a circle cut in the middle for the speaker. at the bottom edge of the metal square, the metal bends at a 45 degree angle. (if could mount the bottom inch to a flat surface, the speaker would point up in the air at a 45 degree angle. Is this making any sense?? haha). I assume you mount that to the dash from holes pointed at the ground (similar to how you mount the knobs for headlights and such. I may have an extra but I am not at home and probably won't be home for at least a couple of months (down at school). Next time I am home I will check and email you if i have one.

Hi Marty, jvirgil has done a pretty godd job of describing the piece. I just wanted to point out that it is actually a pretty complicated piece of metal not something easily duplicated. If your bus orignaly had a speaker plate mounted you shoud find two screw holes on the bottom lip of your dash. When the correct speaker and plate are installed the top of the speaker plate is secured by friction to the top of the dash. Sorry I do not have a pic availble either.

Thanks Jvigil and BMountaintop,

I do have the two holes on the bottom of the dash. I will look for this bracket at the swaps etc. Saw one for sale here but it must have sold. Sent email and didn't get an answer.
