Hi,
Thinking of buying a splittie to tow behind a motor home, what is the weight of these babies?

It was on an earlier thread in this category, and I don't know how to link it, so here is what they had to say. -Jake

I am wondering what is the weight of a VW bus because I am planning on towing it with a tow car dolly. I am going to tow it with a 93 toyota pickup with a 4cyc engine. Do you think I am going to have any problem towing? Thanks.

No ,you should not have a problem.I have towed buses with my old bronco 2 and small toyota 4cyl truck.I did once pull a bus with a bus but not to far across town.

If you check out nadaguides.com for your year and make under classic trucks and vans, it will usually tell you the average weight also. |

1875lb????
This is a bus forum, not a bug forum.
The bugs vary from 1675lbs (mid 60s 1200s) to 1808lb (68-70 1500), to about 2000lb for the convertible bug with IRS.
The buses START at about 3000lb from memory, and climb from there.

I weighed my '58 single cab the other day. Yes, add a couple hundred more pounds to this since I have a bed and not the whole buse shell. Mine with me in it, me being 150 pounds, roughly, is around 2500-2550, it could not make up it's mine, was a trucking scale.
Hope it helps.

| My '64 standard, with everything behind the seats stripped out, tipped the scales at just under 1150KG which is around 2500lb, but it begs the question: Why tow it? |

I've been unladen for awhile.
It would be good to get laden soon. |
