Hello,I have a 58 single cab that i just installed a new wiring harness from wiring works.I converted to 12 vlts with generator with a 1600 duel port.iam using 8 amp fuses,i hooked up my battery and the only problem i have is my rear taillights are not comming on nor my brake lights. When i turn my ignition key on to the first click i can use my turn signals with a fast rapid flash.when i step on my breaks the rapidness of the flashing slows down to what seems a
normal pace flashing. Is my red and black wires crossed, with my turn signal wires,Is there a grounding taking place when i step on my brake pedal into master cylinder, all my fuses are inplace and havent blown. My head lights turn signal up front work fine.pleas help me !!i Have 30 days till my restoration projet is done for my first bug in show!!P.S. I havnt turned over new motor yet,til i know it will be alright!!!thank you VW buddies!!

The signals will flash very fast. It is because you do not have hazards and it will be telling you that they are not working. Is the same way for me.

Wiring, ummm, my brakes seem to not change the rapidity of the signals and there are only 2 wires to the master cylinder for the brake lights, or that is all there should be...if I recall.

Umm, sorry cannot think of the rest at moment, been up wayyyyy too long. I will get some sleep and trace wires in mine and see what I can find.

Usually the turn signal blinking faster is that one of the tail lights is grounding and the other isnt. That could be the reasorn why your break lights and tail lights arent working either. The wire from the breaks runs through the same wire as the turn signal (I believe) and uses positive potential to work the turn signals. Make sure you have a good ground and then come back with the new simptoms. You should get something once they are grounded. Remember to hood the break light/turn signal wire to the larger filament and the tail lights to the smaller. With a voltage tester you can test the tail lights. Use the ground at the bumper brakets, that is usually a good ground, or the engine case.

It was the tailights not being grounded good enough,I grounded them to the body with ground wire. Thanks all!!
