What is the best way to restore the bed of a SC to rid of the "dimples" that come with age, excluding just replacing the bed? I was thinking of sanding it down as much as possible, and then filling in the dimples with a por-15 epoxy to make it smooth. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

how big are the dimples? can you get to the underside through the treasure chest? if you can, you can either try banging them out (risking leaving bumps in their places) or try the 'drill, weld a wire nail in & pull the dimple out' method. i understand por-15 is a bitch to sand - i'd hesitate to go that route. paintless dent repair might be an option to consider, too - it uses thermo-cryogenics (heat & cool) to pop dents. don't know if it would work for dimples. if they're small enough, maybe weld them full & grind them smooth?

sorry that's more guesswork than insight...

Actually, the dimples are more as a result of rust from being exposed to the elements for such a long time. I'm in the process of sanding the bed down, and the "dimples" are just minute size, but numerous. The bed is not rusted through, just surface "bubbly" rust. Problem is that with investing this much time into it, I want the bed to look as smooth as possible.

why not go to your local sandblaster and just have em do the bed. Then you can knock out the dents, fill the holes and use a high build primer like K200 to fill the little holes left over. Good luck getting the por15 evenly applied. Once on never off. NAES
