| my buddy has a 62 single cab and asked me what the rectagular box that surrounds the heating tube just before it becomes one and heads towards the front. I didn't know, any answers? |

| Is it painted the primer grey like the rest of the underside or does it look like it was fabricated by a PO would be my first questions to verify of the possibility it came from the factory like that. I have had a 61 single cab and don't remember seeing anything like that or on any of the buses I have owned. But when we are talking about transporters anything could be possible as they were built to order. Now maybe what you buddy is seeing is the heater duct silencer. It is not really square but kinda looks like a big asprin. One end hooks to the heater piping to the cab w/ a clamp and at the other end connects the steel flex hose. That is the only thing I can think of. I just pulled one out of my parts shed to install on my '62 Kombi Swivel. If that is it then there sould be 2 of them. One on each tube. If not your guess is as good as mine |

| I think you might be right, the pass side is missing cuase some one prior removed that whole section. We were guessing it to be some type of baffle. It's definately a stock thing. Thanks |
