where is the best place to pick up some good safari's? with price and quality in mind. and now on to the stupid questions. i have a 13 window deluxe,is the stationary window glass(the ferthest to the rear of the bus) a different size than the popout window glass?question #2,what is the best way of air filtration, stock or get one of them ugly ass filters for the top of the carb.question#3 i just built my first engine and put a dog house cooler on it. the fan shroud has a little 2inch tube sticking out of the top of the rigth side. what is this and what do i do with this? any help is good help. and i thank you

I have a set of Izzi's in my bus, they look closer to original, and CE safari'd look good to, but for the price wolfgang's are the cheapest. The glass itself is a differant size for the stationary windows, but the hole in the bus is the same size. The hole in your fan shroud will do nothing in your bus, just plug it. It went to some canister under the pass. rear fender in later bug(smog or somrthing?) I'll do what ever you think you like better on the air breather???

Questions 1 and 2 I'll leave to someone else but question 3 sounds to me like the heater box attachment spots. Typically there are flexible hoses (cardboard in nature) attached that run down to the heater boxes. If you don't plan to use heater boxes and go to a header assembly I'd just do what I've seen a bunch of times. Find a plug that will fit inside of it and cap it off. There will be slightly better engine cooling with them plugged as heat isn't excaping into the engine compartment. I live in Canada and I plugged mine in the summer and attached the boxes back up in the winter. Hope that helps. (I can't remember what size plug I used but it looks alot like a test cap that plumbers use only metal)

no thats not the tubes im talkin about mowser. this is a small two inch tall, about the diamiter of a dime, that is on the top right of the fan shroud. where can i get ahold of izzi safari's. i tryed to look it up but all im getting are dead ends.

But I can't get it to go through. Allot of people have trouble with ordering through them, It took me 2 months to get mine. The sent me one set and the glass was tinted, so I shipped them back for a clear set. It took a while. I'm sure others on this site could tell you better on how to get in touch with them.

Izz seems to be a little busy with his Bass fishing right now. I got mine back in October and then found they don't fit early (pre-62) models. Sent them back in May and just got them back like 2 weeks ago after having to threaten them by taking my business elsewhere and asking for my money back. Supposedly they are ready to try to install again, but will wait til I move in a couple weeks to try again.

I have been hearing CE are really good as well but contacting for questions is hard. Wolfgang I have in my SC now. They fit really good, but they don't seal too well, I get to go and caulk em shut here for the rainy season.

Umm,web sites, Izz's is there, so I guess CE's should come on here eh.

I have Wolfgang Safaris and they are great, but order there special Safari window seals they dont look factory but they seal about 100 times better, They still leak a little but I had to spray watter from a hose directally into the space around to get even a little leak.
I think the little tube on the top of the fan shroud is for a fuel injected air cleaner pre heat hose(I am trying to remember if my 79 Beetle has one) or possibly for auto stick tank breather.

I just bought a set of front Safaris from CE. I ordered them last tuesday and got them Monday. That was FAST from europe and all. All parts were there, plus the One-eyed duck and wiper pivots. They are black though. I think it was 550. I also ordered a rear safari from Wolf. I got that in 3 days. I asked them about their front ones and they wanted i think 75.00 extra for the pivots/duck so I went ahead and spent the extra for the CE ones. They both look great and I was really pleased with the quick response of both companies!! Especially with CE. I can't wait til next spring!!! woo hoo..see ya at the 1st annual Samba Show!!!

Yep,yep, little tube is for a late beetle with the charcoal canister under the passenger fender like "deluxebus" said, just cap it, no biggie. I heard the CE's were pretty good quality, what do you think "66split", do they feel and look pretty good? I've been thinking about those since they come with the one-eyed ducks and pivots all together.

60freak, the only thing I can compare them to is the rear i got from wolf. The rear is definatley heavy duty. The CE safaris are really nice. Aluminum, really light weight, The CE ones came disassembled with the glass out and the Wolf rear came assembled. I am not sure about the wolf front but I figured that I'd heard good things about the CE ones and after adding shipping, pivots and duck, there was only about a 50 dollar diff. I was expecting the 3-4 week shipping and man was i surprised when they arrived 5 days later. The wierd thing is that wolf says they are "white" but they are actully cream colored whereas the CE ones are black.

well guys thanks for all the responces. so from what i gather in all this is. one or the other, wolf or CE would be fine. now does anyone know about CE'S roof racks?

I have seen some CE roof racks, and they look fine, well engineered and well finished. Can't imagine they'd be cheap to ship to US tho'
