Does anyone have ANY clue of parts yards in the Midwest? Shipping large body panels becomes tricky from California to Indiana.

Yes, there is a old guy in Huntington, IN who used to be a VW dealer in the sixties and seventies, his name is woody, his shops name is woody's, look it up in the phone book, also there are two junkyards outside of Warren IN, and I don't remember their names but they are right accros the "country" road from each other. In Union City, IL there is another yard that has more bugs and buses than the others I just mentioned, but still don't know their name. Just remember being there a few years ago and I wasn't driving at the time. Definately try 'ol Woody in Huntington IN, he knows his stuff and has loads of nos parts for buses and bugs stashed away in his basement, for example I bought a NOS gas heater for a bug, still in the box for $20 bucks, not too mention other deals. Good Luck!

Yea man, There's one junkyard just east Marion, In Bryant, I think it's called bryonts auto, but i was just there, there's about 10-15 old VW's, nothing crazy special, and nothing really too slavagable. 4-5 old buses, and a couple baywindows, then some other bugs, and a decent hatchback., It's a goodsize yard, the guy will let you go walk around, and stuff, so it's cool. But no engines, or gas heaters, stuff like that have been stripped.
I'd like to see this guys stuff in Huntington also, Since I like 40 Min. south of there..(I'm in Upland, between Marion, and Muncie, and I'd love a gas heater for my 2 bugs, and my bus!..It's freezing outside, If you haven't noticed yet!) |

oh yea, and one other, Angola IN, has a good one, upper right corner of the state, couple miles off I-69. It's got a lot of bus, not sure of Split Buses though. But they do sell new and used stuff(not the best place, kinda overpriced) It's strictly VW's.

Oh yeah James, forgot about the one in Angola! I was there a couple years ago and started talking to the guy who owns the whole place, he said at one time all those bugs out back were ovals and splits and piled high as the ones now, but back then he said they weren't "hot" yet like they are now, so they took them ALL to the crusher once they got the parts off of them!! Man, if I'd been around then I would of snagged them all! Yeah, Bryants auto, thats the name, pretty cool guys there, and always worked a good deal with me. There used to be a 63 bug out there, kinda beige color if I remember right, that bug I wanted to buy entirely for sheetmetal, it's in pretty decent shape last time I saw it, almost worth restoring, but it would be a hard job. Yeah go talk to 'Ol Woody, he is the MAN when it comes to VW's, I learned soooo much from him when I first got into VW's, he has a ton of stuff stashed all over that place, he's kinda wierd, but very cool once you get to know him. Go down into his basement, he has a couple 'old VW's down there, I think one is a 62 or 63 ragtop, and a early sixties baja, and he has a couple buses in there too, baywindows though. Also ask him if you can go upstairs into the loft area, there is a bunch more up there and you'd never know it unless you go up there. Good luck with your search!

Another one is in between Ligonier and Napanee, there is a VW yard there too, on the north side of the us33. Forget the name, but like the one in Angola they are overpriced. Normally they have a bug or two for sale out front.
